Read Reddit posts, their comments and whole subreddits
Reddit shows what people are really saying about a topic, a product or a question. It reads public posts with their comment threads, or goes through a whole community, anonymously and without your Reddit account.
Needs a SurfSense license. See SurfSense plugins to connect it.
Tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
scrape | Reads a post, a subreddit, a user's posts or a Reddit search, or runs a search, optionally within one subreddit. Each post comes with its title, text, score, comment count, community and author, and its comments unless the agent skips them. |
The agent can sort by relevance, hot, top, new, rising or most comments, limit results to a time window such as the past week or year, include posts marked NSFW, and keep only posts or comments newer than a date.
Example prompts
- "@reddit What does r/homelab recommend for a first NAS? Summarise the top posts this year."
- "Read this thread and tell me the three most common complaints: https://www.reddit.com/r/…/comments/…"
- "Search Reddit for reviews of the Framework Laptop 16 and sort the opinions into pros and cons."
- "What's new in r/LocalLLaMA this week?"
Add from the web
In + › Add from the web…:
- A post link becomes one source with the post and its comments.
- A subreddit, user or search link opens as a list of posts. Add the ones you want.
- Search Reddit itself: pick Reddit in the Search on menu under the box.
Short links, such as redd.it/… or share links with /s/, can't be added. Open them in your browser and copy the full link instead.
Limits
- Public content only, as a logged-out visitor sees it.
- Deep reply chains are cut short. A post comes with its first batch of comments and further top-level comments, not every reply deep in a thread.
- Reddit can refuse. When Reddit blocks every attempt, the call fails with that reason. Try again later.
